I have to say, as much as I respect ray, randy is right on. The theology in ISOCF is a bit weak and does not go far enough. I will always recommend the books, but ray was a bit stuck in his ex-jwness. Like many are...

This isn't really something to focus on when exposing the WT IMO. when large companies invest, usually they use portfolios made up of thousands of prearranged companies. These companies were already put together into these portfolios prior to a company investing. It's a bit more complicated than that, but that's the basics. It's not like the wt picked out a tobacco company and decided to invest in them.

What would Jesus do?
by Christ Alone inlet's not get into an argument over if jesus was historical or not.. i'd just like to know how you think the jesus of the 4 gospels would act and do things in our modern world.
who would he talk to?
what sorts of miracles would he perform?

Jesus was known for associating with who the Jews viewed as serious sinners. I think Jesus would be commonly fond on bars, on street corners with prostitutes, in casinos, and would attempt to even teach in Kingdom Halls or district conventions.

Let's not get into an argument over if Jesus was historical or not.
I'd just like to know how you think the Jesus of the 4 gospels would act and do things in our modern world. Who would He talk to? Where would He go? What sorts of miracles would He perform? What would He condmen? What would He praise? Would He teach in churches? He probably wouldn't be invited into a Kingdom Hall to teach...but...

How the Governing Body Solved Another Problem
by Cameron_Don inthat interpretation had caused a problem that the governing body was never able to satisfactorily explain.
they needed to be able to show that there has always been a functioning faithful and discreet slave in one form or another ever since.
but they were never able to provide any evidence for the existence of an ongoing 1900 year-old slave prior to the appearance of the watchtower society.

So I guess none of His slaves were faithful and discreet before the 20th century. Sad...

Credit Cards At Conventions/Assemblies
by turtleturtle inseriously, what is the org thinking, putting credit/debit machines at assemblies/conventions?
i know non-witnesses that think this is disgusting.
so, i pulled up an article about why merchants will be prone to accept these payments.. .

I would love to pull a Jesus Christ when I see those machines next time. Could you imagine?
I love it!!!
It makes me wonder what Jesus would do/say if He were to encounter the WT (and others) if on earth today. That might be sort of a fun thread...

Calling all posters! What are YOUR questions for Candace Conti, Rick Simons and Kelly Kraetsch?
by cedars ini am pleased to announce that candace conti, and her key lawyers rick simons and kelly kraetsch are planning a youtube video to answer any questions that people in our community may have regarding the recent conti v watchtower lawsuit.
i have offered to coordinate the gathering of these questions, and i thought it might be fun to do it in a "competition" style jwn thread, with the best answers being chosen by kelly, rick and candace to be addressed in the video.. as you can imagine, there are some provisos to this.... this is an active lawsuit, so for obvious legal reasons kelly, rick and candace will have the absolute and final decision as to which questions are answered and how much information is divulged when they are answered.we need the answers in the next 7 days, so the "cut off" for this competition is exactly 7 days from the time this thread goes live on jwn.we kindly request that all questions are asked in a respectful manner without any malicious or offensive intent.
any inappropriate questions will obviously be discarded and ignored.

None of my questions are legal based. The main question I have is has she heard of any others that are seriously planning to take the route that she did against the Watchtower society? Has she been able to encourage others to take this step? Is she planning on writing a book about her experience?

Reaching Loved Ones Stuck in a Cult: An Idea for Discussion
by 00DAD inyou may have heard the expression: "the map is not the territory.
" have you ever thought about how this idea may help you reach your loved ones stuck in a cult?
the phrase has been attributed to polish-american scientist and philosopher alfred korzybski.

I am probably not the best person to answer this, since I have had little success with most of my own family.
I just have to stop and say that this is amazing coming from jwfacts. He has single handedly helped THOUSANDS of JWs to see TTATT. And while we can be used to helped so many others, the ones closest to us seem impossible. My own family still won't listen to a word I have to say about the Witnesses.
There are a few ways to go about trying to get someone to see TTATT. The first is to show how the WT is biblically wrong. The main problem with this is that the initial response of a JW is to go to the older WT articles and see what the "answer" is.
One of the most effective tools that I've used is to avoid talking about JWs all together. Instead I prefer to bring up another organization and talk about them. "Wow, the mormons are really off base, huh?" Talk about what a mormon should do when questioning the organization. Should they see what ex members have to say? Should they research the history of the church without relying on what the church themselves say about their own history? Did you know that they actually control what the members of that organization can and cannot read? They don't allow them to read anything critical of the mormon church! What do you thinka bout that?!?"

If you could leave the truth again what would you do differently?

I didn't leave the truth either. But would I change how I left the Wt? Absolutely! I did it all wrong. But maybe it worked the way it did for a reason. But I would've shown more love, less anger, and more patience with others.
